Last week we started a new series called “Kingdom Inheritance” and kicked off with understanding that we are heirs of God.
The Purpose of This Series
- To renew our minds and see ourselves as heirs of God.
- To discover what is included in our inheritance.
- To learn how to take our inheritance.

I was born into the royal family that owns and operates the universe. I received an inheritance so vast it will take me all of eternity to fully comprehend it.”
We are heirs of God
Galatians 4:6-7 NLT
6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”
7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.
You are no longer a slave. God sent Moses and brought His people out of slavery in Egypt.
Egypt is a type of the world. God sent His Son Jesus to bring us out of Egypt, the world, slavery, bondage. We are no longer slaves, we are now children of God and heirs of God.
Heir (GK) = one who receives an inheritance by right of birth.
Now that we are children of God, we are no longer a desperate people. We have a heavenly Father. We have a Daddy who cares for us.
We are heirs of God by birth.
You have been born again into THE royal family as heirs to our Father’s kingdom.
1 Peter 1:3-4 NLT
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,
4 and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
It’s not kept from you but kept for you. The devil and this world can’t reach it and mess it up. It’s beyond change or decay.
You have a priceless inheritance. You received it by right of your spiritual birth.
This Week = Joint Heirs with Jesus
Romans 8:14-17 NKJV
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Joint heir (GK) = one who is in union together with an inheritor
Romans 8:17 AMPC
And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of
God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him].
We are joint heirs with Jesus, and we are sharing His inheritance, our inheritance with Him.
Romans 8:17 NLT
And since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory…
Ephesians 2:6-7 AMPC
He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus.
He did this that He might clearly demonstrate through the ages to come the immeasurable (limitless, surpassing) riches of His free grace (His unmerited favor) in [His] kindness and goodness of heart toward us in Christ Jesus.
His inheritance is immeasurable, limitless, and surpassing.
God made Jesus Heir of All Things
Hebrews 1:1-2 NKJV
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.
Verse 2 AMPC
Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things.
Verse 2 NLT
God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance.
Romans 8:29 NLT
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to
become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Jesus is no longer the only begotten Son. He is now referred to as the Firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
If there’s a firstborn, there’s a second born, etc. We are in there somewhere.
God the Father now has many sons and daughters, and Jesus now has many brothers and sisters.
Colossians 1:18 NKJV
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead…
We were also made alive from the dead and raised up together with Him from the dead. He is alive. We are alive.
If Jesus is heir of all things, and we are joint heirs with Him, that makes us heirs of all things as well.
We have inherited everything that Jesus inherited.
When you were born again, Jesus moved in with everything He has.
We are heirs of everything.
Galatians 4:7 NLT-1996:
Since you are his child, everything he has belongs to you.
MSG:
If you are a child, you’re also an heir, with complete access to the inheritance.
The inheritance is the full scope of God’s provision that encompasses everything—spirit, soul, body, financially, socially.
Every Sunday when we come to church, we are coming together for the reading of God’s will.
To discover who we are, everything we have, and how to access it.
Ephesians 1:3 NLT

We are united with Christ, and we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.
2 Peter 1:3-4 AMPC
For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).
By means of these He has bestowed on us His precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them you may escape [by flight] from the moral decay (rottenness and corruption) that is in the world because of covetousness (lust and greed), and become sharers (partakers) of the divine nature.
Another word for “Bestow” is “Bequeath”.
He has bestowed upon us all things.
He has bequeathed upon us all things.
Bequeath = to give or leave by will—used especially of property.
2 Peter 1:3 NIV
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life
through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6). They don’t know their inheritance.

Our inheritance as heirs of God includes everything we would ever need.
Revelation 21:7 NKJV
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.
Psalm 103:1-5 NKJV
Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
